Chungthang - Chopta Valley - North Sikkim

Chungthang - North Sikkim

Chungthang is a little town on the convergence of the two chief rivers of North Sikkim Lachen Chu and Lachung Chu. The Lachen watercourse from west and stream of Lachung from east meet here and gives formation of Tista which is the most significant river in Sikkim. From Chungthang the road has separated into two, the road all the way through the left leads to Lachen (29 km) and the road leading through the right go to Lachung (23 km).

The valley is supposed to have been sanctified by Guru Rimpoche. This zone is rich in bio diversity with a great variety of plants, orchids and wildlife.

Chopta Valley - North Sikkim

The riot of numerous colors during spring belies this feature, through.

An audacious trek all the way through Chopta valley leads to Muguthang valley at an elevation of 15500ft, another unobserved destination in the greater Himalayas. Eyes, as faraway as it can arrive at, find here an enormous even pasture crisscrossed by plentiful snow-fed streams.
